I Have No Idea What To Title This Post - SURPRISE!

Being mentally drained sucks... it sucks so bad. There really just aren't words to describe how bad it sucks. Have you ever had one of those days - you're both mentally and physically tired to the core and you find smiling to be a chore? And not because you are depressed or anything, it's just because you are just so completely worn out? I'm having one of those days... blogging wouldn't be the smartest idea today... I apologize, but all you would receive from me blogging today would be my ramblings on about some dry and boring subject with no enthusiasm at all. Not that that's much different from any other Tuesday I suppose!
For cimic relief, I want to share a video with you that I found on YouTube the other day... it's from the Tribeca film festival... it's so funny! To me it is, anyway. I hope y'all have a great week... you might just get lucky and I'll write later during the week, wouldn't you be so lucky (sarcasm)! =)
Catch you later guys! - Annagram

Check it out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGl5BnAjmxo

Edit - blogger isn't allowing the link to work. Check out "The Confession" from "tribecafilm" on YouTube.

My Mother is on Facebook

Have you ever had one of those days where you just had no idea what to write? Your mind is blank and you stare at a blinking cursor for five minutes...... you decide to count how many times it blinks in a minute. 62 times it turns out. And then you think that you might have miscounted, so you count it again and come up with 57. There is a huge difference in the two results, so you decide to graph the bpms (BLINKS per minute)... you give up because it becomes boring. Let's face it... having writers block is extremely boring. And painful actually, one gets a headache after a half hour of staring at a blank screen (Maybe it's the brilliance of the screen that does it? Someone remind me to change the dimmer settings on my computer when I'm done babbling!). So, after a while, you give up. "I'm just not blogging tonight!" you exclaim. "I have had enough! I will blog tomorrow. Or maybe the next day. Or maybe not at all this week, I mean, it's not like I am going to lose money from not blogging or anything! I'm on break anyway, I should do what I want to!" (even though you went on the computer in the first place because you wanted to blog), and then change the page over to Youtube. Sadly, the first video you see on your "Recommended for you" page is a video on how to blog. And no, you don't watch it looking for inspiration, being the genius that you are, you close the page because you are annoyed. Bored to death, you head over to Facebook.... *Choir in background singing the Hallelujah Chorus*... and find your inspiration (or perhaps not "inspiration" as much as "OMG, I know what I can write about! I can get away with it!!!").

Let me tell you about Facebook, for those of you who don't know. Technically, Facebook is a networking site such as MySpace, Hi5, Orkut, etc. where you make your own little "page" and then your "friends" write on your page called a "Wall" and you write them back. It has games and quizzes and places for you to read other peoples poems and stories, and watch their videos, look at pictures they've taken, express your beliefs, share with others your likes and dislikes, your interests and values..... but, in a better description, Facebook is......... my life. I wouldn't go as far to say that I would die without Facebook, but let's just say that it is my most visited site on the Web (not including my email)... and I'm on the Internet every day (unless I'm away or I am dying). Facebook has changed my life, whether for better or for worse I have no idea. I rarely use the phone anymore - when I need to get in touch with someone, I Facebook them. Originally, to save on emails in my Inbox (which was HUGE! I needed to set aside a whole hour to reply to all my letters.... now I just avoid people, and after a while I tell them "Hey, sorry I haven't gotten in touch with you, I've been really busy". Which is true actually... I HAVE been busy.... busy avoiding them. But don't tell anyone I said that, 'kay?), I would send people emails on Facebook. But then, I realized that Facebook sent me notifications for when people sent me emails on Facebook, and the notifications had what they wrote in the email inside of the notification. So basically, I received an email with an email inside of it for every email I tried to avoid due to Inbox overload. What a complete failure. Sooooo... I shut the notifications off.

Let me tell you how simple it is to shut off your Notifications on Facebook, shall I? Click "Settings at the top of your page, on the blue bar. Then click "Notifications". Then click "Off" to all the things you don't want to be notified for, then click "Save Changes". Sound easy enough? Apparently not. It took my mother 6 whole months to figure that out.

Yes, my mother has a Facebook. Now before you go all "WHAT?" on me, please know that my mother is pretty young. Physically, that is. Mentally, uh.... to be nice, she kind of "spaces out" a bit. Or, in better terms, she is a blonde-hearted brunette. There are some days that certain things just don't "click" with her. Facebook is one of them. Mothers don't understand Facebook, I think. It's a brain disorder I am assuming. First, she joined it for the wrong reason. Why did I, Annagram the technologically SANE, join Facebook? Well I shall tell you. Because my friends bugged me to death to join it. It took me about 2 months to realize what a wonderful thing they had done, getting me to join Facebook, but I joined it none-the-less, to make my friends happy, and then later, because I was freakishly obsessed with it because I never had to use the phone and I could play games and look at pictures until my eyes fell out of my head. Sounds great, right? My mother joined Facebook because she wanted to "keep in touch with you all" and "see what you're up to". I see my mother every day... clearly you need to read between the lines. Do you know what she really meant? "I am going to SPY on you!!" My mother is on Blogger too, I might add, and when she reads this, I am dead. So if you see anything at the end of this blog saying "My Mom is so totally awesome", it is because well, I mean it, but uh, the MAIN reason would be that I intend on living past April 2009, and that probably won't happen if she reads that. *Clearing throat* Aaaaaanyway... my mother doesn't get Facebook. She can't understand the lingo at all. She calls everything a "Wall". I had to actually show her what her Wall was, and then explain to her the difference between the Home Page and the Wall.

My mother has gone all out with technology, I am proud of her, pushing away her blondness and trying to keep up with the world. She has started sending text messages! It bothers me though, she can't type right. This morning I texted her for a few numbers that I needed for an order for I was placing, and her reply was "U need 2 wt 10 mins". Am I the only one here bothered by "texting speak"? I must admit, I used it when I was younger, and I still do sometimes, like saying "LOL!" (Laugh Out Loud). But for the most part, I never use it. It was such a bad habit, lucky for me my best friend broke me of it... I am free! Does it seem a little odd to you though that my middle-aged mother types like a teenager, and her teen-aged daughter types like an adult? It's kind of sad. Kind of cute too, because she can't type the "texting speaking" correctly either. (Crap, I'm going to die..............)

I would just like to end this blog with um..... Well, what can I say about my mother? My mother is one of many talents. She can play several instruments, sing, quilt up a storm and cook really good. She plays so many roles such as Mother, Daughter, Sister, Wife, Nurse, part-time Cook, Chauffeur, Accountant, Personal Assistant, Comedian and Teacher. My mother is totally awesome and I love her!!! *Reviewing what I just wrote*.... *Thinking about how much I want to live*.... *Sweating*... And um, Mom, I'm buying that thingy you told me about yesterday.... just for you. Because I love you.

I am so dead.

I am an evil child.

I should be beaten within an inch of my life and the strung up and shot.

But my mother wouldn't allow that...................

...would you?

Things I Will Never Understand

Now see, I am fairly good at understanding the reason for a certain object being on this lowly planet, or why people have a certain weird and somewhat disgusting obsession with it, but there are some things that I will just never understand. No matter HOW hard I try, I just will never ever ever understand. Although, please feel free to enlighten me on such things as the below listed, cos I really would like to know. Or perhaps you are just as mind boggled as I am? Who knows. All I know is that I really don't understand:

Math. Seriously. Math... who really even needs it? I mean, obviously you need the basic stuff like addition and subtraction, division, multiplication, fractions, etc... but really, when in real life are we going to use Algebra, unless we are some kind of rocket scientist or something? And forgive me all you rocket scientists out there that are reading this... but I really just cannot understand it. Math and I are non-compatible. I am useless in the math world! And even if I wasn't, I still stand by my first argument, which is that no one really needs it anyway. I do believe that it is just a "thing" to get your brain working. That's about it, right? Cos that's all math is. A puzzle which boggles your mind until you have to solve it... OR, you can just use your calculator... of which I would get shot for doing.

Political Correctness. It's a shame that the world has come to this, it really is. People just need to learn how to get a life. I mean, sure, it's great that the world has started to care about others feelings, but when I am no longer fat, but "horizontally challenged" and my house is no longer a mess, but "passage restrictive"... I say it's time to give it up. I mean honestly. And on a further note, why can't we say "Merry Christmas" anymore? It's always "Happy Holidays" now as to not offend anyone. What about those of us who are offended by not being able to say "Merry Christmas" anymore, because we have to be worried about offending people who probably don't even care anyway? Please.

"2-in-1" shampoo. You're kidding me, right? How completely contradictory is THAT? You clean while adding goop to your hair to make it nasty again? That makes no sense. How can something clean and "conditioned" at the same time? That's like mixing car soap with wax, rubbing it on your car and then spraying it off with a power washer. Unless they have started to do that too now, in which case I am completely lost.

Snuggies. The half bathrobe-half blanket thing. I just do not understand why anyone would buy something that looks completely ridiculous when they could just go and wrap themselves up in a blanket. And it DOES look ridiculous. I mean seriously, come on guys... you cannot look at a Snuggie and tell me that it looks cute.

Sumo Wrestling. It's weird. It's huge. It's disturbing. WHY anyone would want to make themselves weigh 500 pounds so that they can go around wearing a wedgie all the time with their hair in a bun so that they can beat people up and die at the ripe-old age of 35 is beyond me. And what's worse is, people actually enjoy watching it. Does that not bother you just one small little bit? I don't know about you, but watching scantily clad morbidly obese people attempt to dance around a ring and pin someone down without falling over or having a heart attack is really just not on my list of "Dude, this is fun, we have to watch this!" things.

Horoscopes. So like, I could understand if people read their horoscopes for fun, that's all well and fine... but when people actually believe them is when I being to start to not understand. There are so many horoscopes out there, all saying something completely different every day. How do you know which one to believe and follow? I don't really get it.

Twitter. I REALLY JUST DON'T GET IT!! How is logging into a website every 30 minutes to update your status (and do ONLY that) fun? Sounds time-consuming if you ask me. And it's kind of stupid really, because let's get real here: Who really cares? Anna just woke up (4 hours ago). Anna is eating her breakfast... blueberry bagels! Mmm... (3 hours ago). Anna is thinking of what to do on such a wonderful day. Go out for a walk perhaps? It IS such a lovely day out... (1 hour ago). Anna says "IT'S SO NICE OUTSIDE!!" (53 minutes ago). Anna is talking a walk down a country lane on a lovely spring day (49 minutes ago). Anna thinks it's a bit chilly out... should have brought a sweater (42 minutes ago). Anna is cold (40 minutes ago). Anna is FREAKING COLD AND I WANT TO GO HOME BUT IT'S TAKING FOREVER TO GET HOME!! (35 minutes ago). Anna has finally reached the house. Yay!! (27 minutes ago). Anna can't find her keys and has locked herself out in the cold. (26 minutes ago). Anna kicked the door down and is finally inside and is now going to place the door back on the hinges (22 minutes ago). Anna has fixed the door!! (10 minutes ago). Anna is bored and is thinking maybe she was better off outside in the first place (13 seconds ago). Seriously people... I mean, how much fun is that?

Sudoku. The number scrambling game!!! I hate it. Although, that could be just because I loathe Math... but uh, yeah, whatever. It's stupid.

Gilligan's Island. *Shaking head* I'm not even going to get into this one, really, I'm not. It's just too........... never mind. Forget I said anything.

And lastly, on a small personal note, the thing I truly will never understand is why my best friend loves me. I have been nothing but terrible to him, I've hurt him so much, and yet he loves me no matter what and cares for me and protects me... I cannot think of someone who is truly worthy of him (I know that I am not), he's truly wonderful. (I love you so much Kev! I'm so glad you're my Bestest).

Later guys!

5 Things Invented by Accident

Yeah, so, have you ever had one of those days where you try to make something from scratch, but you end up going wrong somehow and totally mess up, like when you try to make a new "organic" recipe and end up making your food processor explode only to discover that you created a new form of explosive material in the form of soup? Maybe a type of mayonnaise that cures cancer? Bleach that doubles for invisible ceiling paint? Okay, so I exaggerate a little and I'm guessing that you probably haven't done any of the previously mentioned or anything of the like, but I'm sure you know where I'm going with it... and no, it is not anything involving a recipe for disaster. Or miracles. While dealing with the dilemma of "What to write??" this week, I was flipping through web pages and saw this really cool article about how Fireworks were discovered on accident. That got me to thinking about Microwaves and how they were discovered by accident, and then this whole little "Hey... there's a LOT of stuff that was created by accident!" thought popped into my head (see how brilliant I am, took me all this time to discover that one fact...) and I decided to blog about it. I might just warn you ahead of time that I suck horrible at teaching history. Really, I'm a great student in History class, but you try and get me to teach you something and you end up with this wonderful new information about how Shakespeare wrote the Chronicles of Narnia, which was based on the war of 1812. Or wait, that was English class... never mind. *Clearing throat* Anyway... here are 5 things that were discovered, created or invented by accident.

Play-Doh. Anyone want to try and take a guess at what Play-Doh was originally before it was made into a child's "Play Clay" where they could form things out of the "dough" and create little objects (mine was normally food, which I baked in my pretend kitchen and then managed to convince my friends that it was really food... I totally loved their faces when they took a bite of my blue and orange polka-dot muffins and ended up with a mouth full of salt... Good times, good times)? Wallpaper cleaner! The cleaner was invented by a guy named Noah McVicker who worked at a soap-company. After a while his nephew Joseph discovered that children were using the cleaner to make Christmas decorations. An idea sparked in his mind and he took the product, added color to it and sold it as a "school product". The first colors were Red, Yellow and Blue though, which I must admit is kind of lame... my favorite one was purple, which I could make of Red and Blue, but I was never allowed to mix the clays, because the grown-ups were always so grumpy about it.

VX gas. VX gas creeps me out, seriously. It could be just because I have watched "The Rock" with Sean Connery one-too-many times and have seen all the Hollywood special effects and stuff, but whatever. VX was originally discovered by Dr. Ranajit Ghosh in the early 50's, who found that they worked extremely well as pesticides (No, duh), and in 1954 it was marketed under the name of "Amiton". But, surprisingly (please note extreme sarcasm) it was found "extremely toxic and hazardous" and was removed from the market, but not before a sample was sent off to the British Armed Forces. It is now classified as a Weapon of Mass Destruction and the production of it has been outlawed. Not like that's really going to stop anyone from making it though, and then holding innocent people in Alcatraz, threatening to launch a rocket filled with the stuff into San Francisco. But that's okay, cos when that does happen, Nic Cage and Sean Connery are going to save our lives and kill them all by shoving the little glass balls of the stuff into the terrorists mouths and launching an empty rocket into one of the guys while quoting Elton John's "Rocket Man". (I need to stop watching that movie. Seriously.)

Popsicles. This is the coolest one of all (No pun intended, so you can't try and label me as cheesy), cos this one really happened on accident. Well, actually all of them did. But whatever. Anyway... it's 1905, right? 11-year-old Frank Epperson leaves his powdered soda (seriously, powdered soda? How did people survive back then? That sounds just as bad as powdered eggs. Which is just as gross as dehydrated soup. (Camping food is gross, just for the info)) in a glass with a stirring stick outside on the porch one evening. When he woke up, he discovered that the sugary liquid had frozen solid earlier when it was cold, and what he ended up with was a sweet, fruit flavored icicle lollipop thing. He loved the idea and named the "Epsicle" (how original), which later got changed into "Popsicle" by his children because they liked the name better and it made more sense, being a "frozen drink on a stick". (Confession: It took me a while to understand this until it dawned on me that people actually call soda "Pop" in certain places of the world. Yes, I'm blonde)

Champagne. According to the story, french monks invented Champagne on accident while they were trying to make wine. Not true. It was actually an English scientist named Christopher Merret who had added sugar to wine and then let it ferment yet again in the early 1600's. In the early times, Champagne was called the "devil's wine" because the bottles would explode or the corks would fly off the bottle randomly without anyone messing with them. I'm so extremely sorry to say this, but if you think that a wine bottle is possessed because it bursts, you have some serious mental issues and should get your head checked out, as soon as possible.

Penicillin. Okay, this one doesn't creep me out, it just makes me sick. You want to know how the wonderful medicine Penicillin was discovered? I shall tell you. There was this scientist named Alexander Fleming who had major issues with cleanliness and littered his office with dirty dishes, never bothering to wash them and put them away. One day he noticed some blue mold on one of his dinner plates (Pause- I'm sorry, EW) was eating away at the bacteria on it (Another EW), and decided to check it out (Remind me to never befriend a scientist), thus discovering the beginning of Penicillin. It took a couple of years to make it into medicine and all that, I wont bore you with the subject, but you can look it up if you like. That was how it was discovered though, which I find horribly disgusting. BEYOND disgusting. And to think that when we get sick and need penicillin, we are actually injecting mold into our bodies... *Shudder*
